honeycomb bracelet

This beautiful and elegant adjustable bracelet made of Japanese glass beads is designed and hand-strung by local company Kimaya Jewelry.

I love wearing the Honeycomb Bracelet... it's comfortable and goes with everything. The materials are durable and you can even wear it into the ocean or the shower.

I met Manoj, the owner of Kimaya, two years ago, and we hit it off right away. He's such a joy to chat with and loves creating new and distinctive jewelry pieces.

Bali Box is one of Newsweek's Best Holiday Gifts of 2020!
We're honored to be included in Newsweek's The Best Work-From-Home Gift Ideas of 2020.
"The Bali Box is a curated collection of products from Bali that supports local artisans and is a great gift idea for friends who are stuck working from home instead of traveling.
While it doesn't fulfill the full wanderlust of travel, this box is packed with beautiful objects from Bali, including a hand-carved coconut lantern, honeycomb bracelet, woven offering box, a themed print, backpack and more.
We love the breadth of items as well as the book that explained the objects and their significance to Bali."

TRADITIONAL HAMMERED TIN BOX AND ORNAMENT

When visiting Bali, you’re almost guaranteed to experience the magic of beautiful ceremonies with people wearing traditional and colorful clothing and carrying offerings. I often see lines of many Balinese women in lace shirts and sarongs, walking down the streets of Ubud, carrying their offerings. Ornate, handmade hammered tin boxes are frequently used to hold the lush offerings.

Feel the magic of Balinese ceremonies with this lovely miniature hand-hammered tin box and lotus ornament with festive red tassels. The box is perfect for holding small treasures such as jewelry, and the ornament will look great on your tree, wall, dorm or cubicle.

Indah is such a delight, and I've enjoyed perusing her little store, jam-packed with colorful hammered tin products. The hammered tin box and ornament were made by Indah's family. Each time I've visited her, I've been the only buyer on a once crowded shopping street. When I made an order, she said "Sales are way down since the pandemic. We're glad to be working."

bali vacation in a box art print
Bali is continually inspiring to me as an artist with it’s stunning, sculptural temples, organically geometric rice paddies, and local arts such as woodcarving.
The Bali Box includes an art print expressing my interpretation of the Bali Vacation in a Box theme, inspired by screen-printed art, to help transport you to this unique island.
Front and center is Barong, the king of spirits as described on the Where’s Wayan backpack page of this booklet. Stairway to Heaven, Pura Luhur Lempuyang, is likely the most photographed temple in Bali, and is shown mirrored in the background. Palm trees and blue skies and sea are essential to any tropical vacation, and most certainly a Bali one. Frangipani, or jepun in Balinese, are emblematic of this island and can be seen everywhere, on trees, in offerings, and behind people’s ears. And what would a trip to Bali be without playful monkeys trying to steal your bananas?

Testimonials
the bali box project
I've been traveled around this magical island, meeting talented creators and curating a box of beautiful, soulful, artisanal objects to help you experience the adventure of Bali — the Bali Box.
The Balinese people are truly suffering during Covid from the lack of tourist dollars. Bali’s economy is normally 80% tourism, and there are currently no tourists.
In addition to being tremendous fun, receiving a Bali Box benefits the local communities and economy of Bali, as it employs artists, artisans and small businesses to create beautiful, useful items.
